Sore and Gray

Back after an exhausting weekend in California for my grandfather's funeral. Feeling pretty exhausted, ended up going to sleep way too early.

The funeral was stressful, but one thing I really did not like was how I looked in the pictures. Time to get moving more and get some of this excess weight off.

I woke early this morning and finished up the tribute to my grandfather (on my blog), then realized that I should start training for the Shamrock.  Despite making a NYE resolution to walk more, January brought with it more stress and little time to walk.  Not to mention the Shamrock is in ~ 1 month and I do not want to be as sore at the end as I was last year. So my goal today - start the couch potato to 5k program. I am finding it hard to motivate myself to get outside as the sky is so gray. But making myself do that now...

Upon my return going to conquer the second part of that gray equation. My hair! Nothing like the LA sunshine to make me realize how gray my hair has gotten.

On that note...I am off!!!

Weekend

The week brings with it down time and my dietary practices tend to follow.

Friday night we enjoyed BBQ burgers and hot dogs with potatoe salad.

Saturday was a Starbucks morning and I had a green tea iced tea, a veggie breakfast sandwhich...then I returned for lunch and had a turkey sandwhich, two cake pops, and a black coffee. For dinner I had a chicken burger at Fire on teh Mountain and too many delicous fries. We even stopped before seeing out movie and had some frozen yogurt. I was fairly active in the afternoon running around taking pictures.

Sunday morning I cooked polenta or breakfast, a taco bell lunch run (bean burrito & cheesy beef melt + diet coke), and for dinner pizza  Rovente's.

Obviously my obsessio failed this weekend.

Totcho's

I started the day strong with a spinich feta wrap adn some green tea, moved on to Nutrisystem orange chicken.

It was meeting my friends for dinner that was my downfall. I had a delicious Bleu Pig (pork tenderloin sandwhich with blue cheese and a side salad). It was the totcho's that tipped me to the dark side. That is right folks...two of the best inventions of human kinds meet in one sweet bliss Tater Tots and Nacho's make a sweet love child smothered in cheese, salsa, olives, peppers, and adorned with sour cream. Yum!

Happy Hour is the Root Cause

Busy day, Is it sad that as I sit her back posting and cannot remember what I had!

Breakfast was a no go (I believe), but grabbed a nonfat Mexican Coffee (guessing around ~175 calories).
Lunch was a NutriSystem Pulled Pork Wrap (I will get the nutritional information later ~260 calories).
Happy Hour was an outing with colleagues a few VTs and buffalo wings.
Dinner - on the way home I grabbed a turkey burger from Carl's Junior (~460 calories).

Not my finest day, but I did consciously think when I made most of the decisions, I would have skipped the wings if I knew they were breaded however.

NutriSystem Fail

So I have done NutriSystem twice now. I lost a little weight, I would say roughly 10-20 pounds each time and it slowly crept back up after not sticking to the NutriSystem plan.

Mostly I just ended up losing all sight of food with any flavor when on the program. Even the sight of one of their bars makes me ill at this point. Bland, oddly sweetened, over salty, cardboard is what I would use to describe the food. Even with adding spices I still found the food mostly unpalletable. I am however, trying to be a good sport and make it through the remaining boxes and bars that have piled up in my cabinets (goal is to get through these before we move in the next few months).

Meal plan for today:
  Breakfast:
    NutriSystem Sweetned O's - 110 calories, 1.5 fat (g), 21 carb (g), 3 fiber (g), 5 protein (g)
    Fruit Strip (Strawberry) - 45 calories, 0 fat (g), 11 carb (g), 1 fiber (g), 0 protein (g)
  Lunch
    Green Apple - 150 calories, 2.5 fat (g), 17 carb (g), 1 fiber (g), 16 protein (g)
  Dinner
Chicken with carmalized onions, asparagas, potatoes, and sliver of cheesecake.

(Tonight I had a Project Managament dinner so I will stick with what is served there. Goal is to not eat anything else when I get home (unless it is fresh fruit of veggies...those are my exceptions)).

*PS. I had a chocotaco fail tonight. My husband brought them home as a surprise and I could not resist.

Starbucks - Oatmeal and an Iced Tea

Okay here are some good reasons why I should eat more oatmeal.
  1) I actually like it!
  2) It helps lower cholestrol
  3) I need more grains and fiber in my diet
  4) It is complimented well by fruit (another source of fiber)

On that note - I did not have time to prepare my own so I did get the Starbucks reindition of oatmeal. The oatmeal itself is not so bad, but fruit and nuts add like 200 calories. Note to self... if I am going to be lazy and get Starbucks oatmeal, I should have my own fruit and lower fat items to put in the oatmeal.

On a non-obsessed about health day I would prefer the vegtable breakfast sandwhich. But let's compare the two:

 Oatmeal - 140 calories,2.5fat (g), 25carb (g), 4fiber (g), 5 protein (g)
    Nut - 100 calories,9fat (g), 2carb (g), <1fiber (g), 2 protein (g)

    Fruit - 100 calories,0fat (g), 24carb (g), 2fiber (g), <1 protein (g)
 Total - 340 calories, 11.5 fat (g), 51 carb (g), ~6 fiber (g), ~7 protein (g)
Vs.
Veggie Breakfast Sandwhich - 350 calories,18fat (g), 31carb (g), 2fiber (g), 17 protein (g)

On another note, I decided to swop out my traditional fat free mocha for a  passion fruit iced tea:
Caffe Mocha - 170 calories, 2 fat (g), 32 carb (g), <1 fiber (g), 10 protein (g)

 Passion Fruit Iced Tea - 0 calories, 0 fat (g), 0 carb (g), 0 fiber (g), 0 protein (g)
*though I could not find information on the simple syrup

I have enjoyed that sandwhich many a morning and well its time to enjoy a new substative treat when I go to Starbucks. I will allow myself the occassional splurge, but I must post it here to keep myself honest.

Lunch is out again at Stanford's - going to do the blacked salmon sandwhich.
Dinner is at my work Town Hall - greek themed.
